Ollie was my first Golden Retriever. He was born on Sept 21, 1987. He came to live with me when he was 8 months old. He was my treasure and best buddy.
Ollie was a show man in the Obedience ring and in the field. I received his obedience scores in Canada and in AKC with multiple High In Trials, and multiple High Combines. Ollie was not the most consistent dog, but when he qualified he seldom was out of the placements.
I was proud to be the "human" part of the
team. I retired Ollie before I got interested in field
work. He has his Golden Retriever Working Certificate,
but due to a slipped disc in his neck he was forced into
retirement before he was really done.
Ollie enjoyed his final days going to work with me and
hanging out, and doing an occasional demonstration. I
will really miss showing Ollie, and will
always have the memory of his wonderful, bright eyes
looking up at me as we are heeling.
